Obviously these character sheets are all well and good, but it will be useful to look at real expressions.
The internet is a wonderful thing, and plenty of people have taken some excellent photo references!

Expression References
Further to the reference sheets in the last post I have been looking for a few more examples!
http://skimation.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/hu-doy-facial-expressions.html
The only problem with a lot of these kind is that they are a little flat, being face on. I prefer the one's that show a bit more personality, which is what I am really wanting to develop in this project.
Any characters that I have done in the past are pretty lifeless so to make them believable and inject a bit more character and life into them will really improve my overall designs.

Buddy Reference ....
I found a couple of examples of people filling out a sheet quite methodically as a way of exploring how each character will express itself.
This guy has made a blank one, into which it might be good to have a practice just drawing some eyes and mouths etc like in this buddy reference he provided =)
Expressions 2
Character Expressions from Paranorman!
I like the unique style of every character, how expressive their faces are and the asymmetric nature of their mouth movements. It makes it realistic yet stylized at the same time!
Every one is unique but you can tell that each is a part of the same set!
I really like how Norman's sheet has the skull drawing; obviously thinking about the underlying skeleton and muscle structure is a good way to create believable expressions

Before i start animating my final film, i wanted to play around with the facial structure of one of my films characters. I kept away from the character sheet and just focused on pushing and pulling the expression. I knew i could push the squash and stretch a lot more so I decided to try and see how far i could go. Hopefully i’ll try and exaggerate it some more, as thats my main aim for my character animation this year.

still playing with expressions in between storyboarding. studied a lot of Jin Kim’s work for some help with these. hopefully an animatic will be finished by the end of this week ready to start animating :D

Semester 2
Well last semester could have went better... but either way....
This semester we are required to create our own brief and develop our project based on that.
A few weeks of classes before we have to decide though, but I'll reflect on the previous semester and decide what it is I want to do....
